The Director of MSB Argentina, Antonio Buchaca, talks about his experience migrating his Human Resources application to the Web world, using K2B Tools.
Our MAP-RRHH application is comprised of around 5000 objects. When we set ourselves the goal of taking it to the Web world, for reasons of functionality, we decided to start from the KB that we used to generate the application in AS400 character.
The big issues that came up when we started planning the project were:
- How do we go from the “green screen” to a web interface?
- How do we massively replicate the peculiarities developed?
- How many resources (people and time) will it take to have an efficient and stable “full web” application?
During the prototyping phase to find the standard and the most efficient way to comply with our project, we learned about the K2B Tools. We spent five days training on this set of tools, the K2BTools, and the results were as follows:
- Significant reduction in development times in the generation of objects. In a single step and from a transaction, all the necessary objects are created: web panel (work with) and web transaction, links, etc. ready to be compiled and generated.
- This reduction in development times allowed us to have our MAP-RRHH application in the web world in six months, assigning Project Leader, three senior analysts. GeneXus and two functional analysts.
- We easily spread our peculiarities to the entire application, inserting our lines of code into K2B objects. As an example, it occurs to me to mention the “ISAUTHORIZED” object provided by K2B Tools.
- We automatically increase the potential of our application with the automatic generation of Excel sheets, PDF files and dynamic queries with Query objects.
- Already on the Web, we can quickly change the appearance and design by modifying themes without the need to regenerate the application again.
In short, the use of K2BTools allows us to have a stable, standardized, robust application with greater functionality; significantly reducing development times. We achieve more with less.
